This Years Categories:
Two courses : Coppermine and the Coppermine Epic
Team Categories include: Family, Corporate and parent & child
There’s also Single Speed and E Bike categories
Costumes optional for everyone, but there will be a prize for the best dressed individual or team!
Coppermine E-bike: Your E-bike will need to comply with the eligibility criteria set out below:
1. Bikes need to comply with the New Zealand Transport Authority’s definition of a power-assisted cycle which is:
(a) a vehicle that has at least two wheels and that is designed primarily to be propelled by the muscular energy of the rider; and
(b) includes a power-assisted cycle.
Power-assisted cycle means a cycle to which is attached one or more auxiliary propulsion motors that have a combined maximum power output not exceeding 300W.
2. All bikes entering this category will be limited to one battery. The batteries must be sealed with an appropriate label. The batteries MUST remain in the ebike at all times.
3. Technical assistance from the outside during the race is not allowed.
4. Must be factory limited. No added dongles/attachments are allowed that will result in the computer being misread to achieve a higher speed. Bikes may be inspected prior to the race.

NOTE: 2022 Race is INDEFINITELY POSTPONED pending geo-tech assessment of major slips on the course and repairs to the Maitai Valley Road.

Event Day: Sunday 25th September 2022 DONT FORGET DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME CHANGE!
Event Cost: Early Bird $75, Late Entry Fee $85 (from September 1st) . This includes a t shirt, refreshing cold beverage and food at the end of the race.
Registration: : - Collect Race Packs: Gravity Nelson, 140 Bridge St, Nelson, Friday 23rd 4pm-6pm & Saturday 24th 10am-12noon.
Event briefing: By email, then very briefly 9.30am at the start line.
Event start: - STAGGERED RACE STARTS, Self seed by group with a 2m gap, line up behind the start gate at the bridge as follows:
o 09:50 All Ebikers
o 10:00 All EPIC racers
o 10:10 All Classic racers
Your time won’t start until you pass the start gate at the far end of the bridge.
Prize giving: As racers finish they will receive their congratulations, race time, and hand in their race chip in exchange for a Solander fish burger voucher, a drink and a Juicie.
Prize giving and Spot prizes in the race village.
Event Village: Will be hosted at the entry of Maitai Camp Ground (NOTE: We are looking at possibly changing this so keep an eye out for upcoming announcements).
Where to stay: A complete list of accommodation to suit all budgets can be found at www.nelsonnz.com. However, very conveniently the race village is close to the Maitai Valley Motor Camp.
How to get the event: The event starts at the Maitai Esplanade Reserve, approx 5km up the Maitai Valley. Follow the "MTB Event" signs up the Maitai Valley Road. See map below .(NOTE: We are looking at possibly changing this so keep an eye out for upcoming announcements).
